Bear Safety
If you frequent Alaskan trails, you’d do well to keep in mind the 900-pound residents you’re sharing the neighborhood with. Taking a few basic precautions is a smart move, wouldn’t ya say?

We’ve got a few tips for you, and even a custom designed solution for the bikers who want to make the bear spray they already have more accessible!
-
MAKE NOISE
One of the simplest ways to avoid, shall we say... altercations with bears, is to let them know you’re coming, so they have the chance to clear out first! You can do this by attaching bells to yourself or your gear, shouting (or even singing!) periodically during your outing, or even just playing decently-loud music. Please don’t damage anyone’s hearing, though.
-
AVOID DANGEROUS AREAS
Deliciously bountiful berry patches, dense areas of foliage where visibility is low, or a clearing with a fresh elk carcass? All places you might not want to hang around for long. The reasons seem obvious enough.
-
ADVENTURE IN GROUPS
This is a great way to coerce your buddies into joining you on outings; “Alex, please join me for this ride. Your presence will make us seem more formidable as a group, and could help save my life from a would-be bear incident.” What kind of friend turns you down for that? We’re just saying, if your buddy lets you go out ALONE in bear country, you might want to make some new friends.

CARRY BEAR SPRAY
“But, I’m a biker!”, you say. “How am I supposed to carry bear spray when my hands are needed on the handle bars of my mighty, two-wheeled steed?” We’re so glad you asked! Because, Billy Flamingo’s Brand has thoughtfully developed just the solution to this conundrum; meet the Bear Spray Holder Cage! A quality accessory for your bike, which allows you to carry your bear spray hands-free, and within easy reach! Though, we must remind you to purchase a can of said bear spray separately; without it, our Holder Cage is utterly useless in defending against bears.
